Here is one of the most recent pieces I’ve finished. There’s just one small problem…I’m having trouble coming up with a name for the piece. Whenever I see the piece, I think stately woman in chair. Hopefully you can help me come up with something a little bit better. Let me tell you a little about her.
My inspiration came from a recent art call put out by Somerset Studio. The call was for “aubergine”. To me aubergine (you know that lovely plum/eggplant color) says royalty, elegance and sophistication. For the background I used opera music, lovely handwritten ledger paper (in purple ink!), a princess story from an old book and scrapbook paper. Now as the background was coming together I realized that I was not using aubergine at all but had embraced shades of burgundy instead. Undaunted, I continued on with the piece. When I crossed the image of the “stately woman in chair” I knew she would be my focal image…after all, she seemed like the definition of elegance sitting so regally in her chair. Alas I finished my aubergine inspired piece, fully realizing that it would never see publication under the aubergine call…well, being burgundy and all it just wasn’t meant to be.
So here is where you come in. Leave a comment on my blog with your suggestion(s) for a title and you’ll be entered to win a $25 gift certificate for my etsy shop. The winner will be randomly selected on Tuesday, July 21.
Okay…let the suggestions begin!

Very pretty collage! Title: "Madam Aubergine".
Hope you like hope I win!

"Patience" Her body language looks to me like someone that is sitting, waiting, and yet a little unsettled about it. The position of the hand in her lap looks like she just might start nervously figgeting with her fingers any minute. The music, words, and ledger in the background look like they are the many things running through her mind as she continues to wait.
Its a very nice piece.
"Quiet Reverie" is what comes to me! She seems like she is soaking up a quiet moment.
Here's my idea: Muse of Color.
She looks like she's thinking over something..the colors that spoke to you were not what you intended..
Madam Butterfly - this goes with the music and the opera in my view.
She's beautiful!
'Pause to Reflect' She looks to me like she's taking a break, sitting down to just think about things for a bit :)
Darla ♥
"waiting" and its beautiful.
Lovely,
Ok I'm oine for long titles that tell the beginning og a story,
"Her Knowing Look Contained Many Secrets."
LOL
"Pretty Pink Princess" or "Poised Plum Princess" whatever you call her she is stunning. Awesome work, regards, T.
My first instinct was to suggest "Waiting" as someone else commented, so I will go with something else along that same line:
"Lady in Waiting"
This is lovely--keep on submitting your pieces!
Dang, my first thought was "Patience" as well! That being used I think it should be called "Guess what? I'm not wearing any knickers!"
It's gorgeous! I think she is "Wondering"
Aubergine or not, it's a success :)
Nice piece. I would name it "Elegance".
"Thoughts"!
She looks like she's sitting and thinking her thoughts. Contemplating something that is important to her.
or
"Waiting" - She could be in the parlor waiting for her guests or possibly her gentlemen caller!
what a fun idea!! i have a few suggestions:
patiently waiting for love
operatic royalty
lady of song
regal lady's overture
she listened to her heart
she listened to her dreams
she sat in her chair of dreams
thanks for letting me participate!!
She's gorgeous, whatever she's called. But, how about
Regal Rose
Ruby.
I saw that tag in a storque article last week and I actually thought of your piece.
here's my suggestion:
a resolute gem
"Waiting on the day to settle"
I love this piece!
Thanks for the chance to play along.. looking forward to seeing what you decide upon.
Happy day to you Alisa!
xo, monica :)
I'm am ridiculously terrible at titling art... seriously, I called one of my pictures "Bird Song" only to realize that it made no sense as the bird wasn't even singing. So embarrassingly lame.
BUT, I just had to say that your collage is BEAUTIFUL! And good luck to the winner.. what an awesome giveaway!
She's a beauty! It's not a clever title like those that posted before me...what immediately came to mind when I saw her was Lilly (The song Lovely Lilly Langtree is now an earworm, too).

"Opera Critic's Wife"
She's stuck in another opera - bored as usual - and keeps thinking about her childhood aspirations of becoming a princess to keep her mind off of the lousy performance. Reality vs. dream. Ugh, reality wins...
It's a great piece Alisa! See you at work (aka reality)!
