I've been feeling a little down lately. I've had absolutely no time to get into the studio the past couple weeks, sales have been slow and on top of that I've been struggling with a lack of motivation, an "artists block" so to speak. Well, that all ended this week.
Pam Carriker, one of the many wonderful mixed media friends I've met through etsy decided to have a blog giveaway in honor of her birthday. If you haven't done so, be sure to check out Pam's
blog and
etsy shop. She is immensely talented. Her work is inspirational and has been at the top of my "wish list" for quite awhile. She has been published in Cloth Paper Scissors, Summerset Studios and the Stampers' Sampler to name a few. I jokingly refer to her as my famous etsy friend...lol.
Needless to say, many people frequent Pam's blog and I was completely surprised, elated and honored to be the winner of one of her beautiful mixed media portraits, 'Abundant Love'! I can't wait to see it in person! Thank you, Pam!!!!
Oh and to clear my head and get my creative juices flowing again, I decided to splurge on ebay and ended up winning a huge lot of 550 vintage images. When they arrived at my house a few days ago, I was like a kid in a candy store. Browsing through those photos gave me tons of inspiration and totally removed any remaining "artists block". Take a look at my newest piece.
The Metsy Team is having a Metsy Halloween ACEO Challenge and although this piece is not an ACEO, I was inspired by the challenge. I love old buildings and supposedly haunted houses, so I transferred an image of an old house onto the canvas and distressed it a bit. I added fall leaves to give the piece a little bit of color and added two ghostly images to the background. The piece was done on 5x7 gallery wrapped canvas and will be listed in my etsy shop soon.
Enjoy!
